2014 Broadwey, Upwey & District Spring Show

It was a colourful and good quality start to the Daffodil season at The Memorial Hall in Upwey on Saturday 15th March.

Ray Hayward’s exhibits were outstanding, with Ray winning the Championship Class of 3×3 vases with Clouded Yellow; Truculent; and Demmo. As Best Vase in show ‘Clouded Yellow’ earned Ray the Daffodil Society Bronze Medal.

Two diplomas were also awarded at the judges discretion:

One for Best Exhibit also went to Ray for his six vase entry of Punter; Arleston; Ombersley; Fiona McKillop; Truculent and Brindabella.  The Punter in this collection was an easy choice for Best Bloom in the show.

The second diploma went to Eric Pickard for a vase of three ‘Hummingbird’. The judge considered this to be the Reserve Best Vase; the Best Div 6s in the show; and also the Best miniatures.

Frank Newbery won the 2×3 class with two vases of Div.6 s reflective (pardon the pun) of the start of the daffodil season.
