The Late Noel Burr

It is with sadness that we report that Noel Burr died on Tuesday 6 June 2017.
Noel’s love for daffodils produced some outstanding flowers including Cherry Gardens 2W-GPP, Saxonbury 2 Y-Y and Dunstan’s Fire !Y-O for which he was awarded The Ralph B. White Memorial medal in 2004.
Not only was he a dedicated hybridyser but he also enjoyed considerable success as an exhibitor of daffodils. In 2001 he won the prestidgeous RHS Engleheart Cup for the best exhibit of one stem of twelve cultivars raised by the exhibitor. Many will know him as one of the founders and leading lights of the South East of England Daffodil Society (S.E.E.D.S.)

Noel was for many years an active member of the RHS Daffodil and Tulip Committee and was also a long serving member of the then RHS Daffodil and Tulip Trials Sub-Committee and the RHS Daffodil and Tulip Show Schedule Panel.
Noel’s funeral is at Tunbridge Wells crematorium on 28 June at 10.45 am.
Our condolences to his family.

With thanks to Malcolm Bradbury
