This show took place on Saturday 6th Aril in the impressive atrium at Nailsea School. The show is normally dominated by the daffodils classes which are the most comprehensive in the North Somerset Area, with over 50 classes not including member’s classes.
Unfortunately it was no surprise that the entries had been decimated by the unusual and severe weather conditions. The Wessex Daffodil Group are major exhibitors at the show and even some our members succumbed and did not have flowers to exhibit.
Despite the problems the quality of entries was good and some of the individual blooms were impressive. A warm welcome was given to the judge, Mr Ian Tyler, who was making what is now an annual pilgrimage from Lancashire to the West Country.
Derek Phillips took first in the 9 vase – 9 different variety class, with Alan Purnell second. Alan’s display did include a bloom judged Best in Show. Alan then was first in the 3 vases – 3 blooms per vase class.

Daffodil Society bronze medal for best exhibit in daffodil classes, Derek Phillips with reserve, John Hamblin.
