AGM 9 March 2014

Many thanks to those who attended the Society’s Annual General Meeting on Sunday 9 March 2014.
We were delighted to welcome Society member and chairman of the RHS bulb Committee, Jan Pennings. Jan bought with him from Holland three lovely bunches of John Hunter (NZ) seedlings in subtly different shades of green. A delight for the eye and the nose.

As part of an on going review of the Society’s operations a discussion on the current pointing system for judging, led by Roger Braithwaite and Ken Harrop, raised some interesting thoughts and contributions. We ask that you make your contribution to the review to the secretary Terry Braithwaite and we will publish further points for debate during the coming year. There are no changes currently on the table and nothing will be progressed without Member ratification at a future AGM.

With the show season now in full swing Society judges should re-read the Society’s judging guidelines and points system. You might like to ask the question – Could the system be improved or could those who operate it do with a review and refresher training?

Wishing you a successful show season.
