2014 Chester Chrysanthemum & Dahlia Society Show

The Chester Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society held their daffodil show on Sunday 6th April at Walkers plant nursery. There were many fine exhibits and we were pleased to welcome two new exhibitors to the show, Jeff and Linda English who travelled up from Nottingham.
Most of the honours were shared between Jeff English and Mike Lewis although Linda English won the miniature classes.

Jeff won the Chester championship class of six blooms, OMBERSLEY- SEEDLING – BEAULIEU – MOON MADNESS –GOLD CONVENTION – KATIE MILLER, 2nd place was Mike Lewis with OMBERSLEY –CHANSON – BANKER –CADGWITH – WILD HONEY – KATIE MILLER and Ken Dear, another prominent exhibitor, came a commendable 3rd with CAPE POINT –LIVERPOOL FESTIVAL- MIDAS TOUCH – MOON SHADOW –CAUSWAY SUNSET – LOCH ALSH .
The 3X3 class was also won by Jeff English with OMBERSLEY – CAPE POINT – GOLD CONVENTION, 2nd place Mike Lewis with ROUND OAK –BANKER – FINE ROMANCE. Ken Dear won the pot of daffodil class with a lovely pot of bulbocodium OXFORD GOLD, Mike Lewis came 2nd with a pot of KOKOPELLI.
The Daffodil Society bronze medal was awarded to Jeff English for best exhibit in show with a stunning vase of three BADGEWORTH.
Mike Lewis was awarded the Daffodil Society diploma for best bloom in show with ROUND OAK . Jeff also won a diploma for a bloom of DAILMANACH .
The society has a unnamed bulb competition to members. This class was won by Andy Wright , with his very first daffodil entry and the flower was RAINBOW.
122 vases were staged which equated to 98 exhibits.
