Northern Group Update
Well Spring is on its way. Early Spring plants are flowering bringing with them colour and much optimism which we all need so much. As I write these notes I can see a pair of Mallard ducks showing signs of pairing up and the Moorhens are looking for nesting sites around the lake.
The reason for this message it to pass on the latest news relating to Harrogate Spring Flower Show. As we are all aware shows across the whole of the country are looking at cost reductions and in this regard Harrogate is no different. This year we will be located in Hall 1 together with others Societies and Floral displays. It will be different but changes have to be made. Parking will be at the end of the hall for drop off and pick up. Staging can take place until 10pm on Wednesday evening and from 6am on Thursday morning. Any help with the set up will be gratefully received. Please note that there will be NO OVERNIGHT STAGING.
As for the rest of the show much of what we were used to before the Pandemic will return such as the Bandstand which is a much loved part of any large show.
My understanding is that Floral Traders and Societies will be similar in numbers to those of the last Spring Show however there is an increase in general traders which is a good sign. We are so lucky to have Harrogate Spring Show as unlike many others the Staff and Council Members work closely together which overall provides us with the wonderful platform one which we have enjoyed and respected for so many years.
Those of us who are Daffodil Society members will have noticed that the latest publication has been sent out. These are difficult times to get anything done on time so well done to everyone concerned.
And finally with only a few weeks before our first show can I wish everyone good luck with their flowers and let’s hope we see benches filled and good friendships rekindled.
Kind regards.
Rae and Chris.
