The late Mrs Wendy Gillings

It is with sadness that we report the death of Mrs Wendy Gillings on Sunday 26 June 2022.
Wendy was a Daffodil Society Committee member, former Membership Secretary and recipient of the Society’s George Tarry Award in 2019. She was also a “tour de force” on the Society’s annual show tombola.
Wendy had been ill for some years but sustained by her determination, sheer bloody mindedness and the love for her husband and family she fought for life every step of the way. I think many of us would not have had her continued good humour, courage or staying power faced with similar circumstances and an aggresive treatment regime.
We send our sincere condolences to her husband Richard, former Vice-Chairman of the Society and her family. She will be much missed.

So sad to read this news. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Richard and the family.
Wendy will be missed by many including ourselves.
As relative new comers to the Daffodil Society Wendy went out of her way to
make us welcome and always had words of encouragement for us.
Outside of Daffodils there is a lasting memory of Yarmouth races which will be treasured.

Wendy made a big impression with her good humour, cheerful conversation and her interest in the people and the flowers at the Late Daffodil and Tulip Competition at RHS Harlow Carr only a couple of months ago. It was the first time we met and I really enjoyed the short time we spent together, she was such good company. I was lucky to meet her and will remember her with a smile. My condolences to Richard and family.
